I dreamed a darkly clouded dream.
It was so dark I could not see.
I tried to step towards a light,
But I was bound by heavy chains.
Tore at the chains, they would not break.
I called for help, no one called back.
But then by chance I looked down,
And saw myself glowing bright.
I was the light all along, what I saw was a reflection.
Someone else had chased away their black smoke;
In the mirror of their heart I could see my own light,
And as the light grew brighter, the chains fell away.
I looked up and saw a dark storm above the earth.
The dream of the planet had become a living nightmare.
Poison rose as smoke from those living in their hand-made hell,
And through the smoke I could not see the world.
I watched in dismay as people cast hateful spells,
Not knowing the power of their thoughts and words.
But I knew the power each of us hold,
And I made an agreement to share this elusive truth.
I was the light all along, the space between the stars.
I had finally chased away my black smoke;
In the mirror of my heart I reflect the light of the stars,
And as the light grows brighter, I make a better dream for today and tomorrow.

Wow. ^^
I love it...=D It flows very nicely. It certainly gives me a picture. It kind of makes me see people when they are lost, depressed, and they seem to have no hope...and then they finnaly realize its themselves who can help guide their lives...^^ Not sure if thats what you were going for, but writing is all about interpretation, eh? ^^ Great job.
Indeed!

That's pretty much it! Well, this song (both lyrics and music) were inspired by a book called "The Four Agreements" in which the author talks about how we are all mirrors, and so, when we something in somebody else that we find admirable, or that we would like to have in ourselves, it's really already there, because they've simply reflected our own light back to us. :3 And how negative thoughts and actions and energy form veils over these mirrors, and that's why (partly, of course) people find themselves so miserable all the time. Well, there's a lot more to the book than that, but that particular imagery I really enjoyed, and that was the basis for this song. But it is very much about realizing that all you need to make you happy and whole, you really already have, or at least have been given the power to make real.
*cough* Thanks for taking the time to comment! :3
